LOVE BREWS Wedding Event

Save the Date for the LOVE BREWS WEDDING EVENT!

Kio Kreations is going to be featured as part of the LOVE BREWS Wedding Event on Sunday, February 21, 2010 in Palatine, Illinois. Please mark your calendars for this Talent Showcase with Live Demonstrations!

After years of avoiding bridal expos and shows because of their “sell-sell-sell” nature and their impersonal, convention-like feel, I have finally decided to do a Wedding Event–MY WAY!

Love Brews” is the anti-wedding expo. It is a smaller, more intimate showcase of 6 wedding vendors which will include beautiful sights and sounds along with live demonstrations given by the vendors themselves. There will be no need to feel pressured to sign or buy anything – this is more of an opportunity to see your vendor/s working their magic in person.

Vendors featured at the event include:

Kio Kreations (Florist, Decor & More)
XL-Entertainment (DJ)
The Chair Couture (Linens)
Cynthia Sally (Makeup Artist)
AC Design & Photography (Photographer)
Big Day Boutique (Invitations, Decor & More)

The venue itself, Emmett’s Tavern and Brewing Co., has 2 stunning rooms available to rent for your small reception, rehearsal dinner, engagement party or wedding shower. I loved this venue so much after my first visit there for dinner with my Mother-in-law that I knew I wanted to do our event there. It is located in the western suburbs just north of Schaumburg off of Palatine Road. It is also within steps of the Palatine Train Station making it an easy destination for city brides.

Why call this event “Love Brews“?!  Well, I wanted to play up the venue which is this stunning building below that is both a restaurant and microbrewery. The whole idea that they brew their own beer only adds to the uniqueness of the event! Plus, all of wedding professionals featured in this event are independently-owned and budget-friendly allowing you to get your “champagne tastes on your beer budget”….so it just makes sense that we all be a part of an event called “Love Brews”!!!

I am so very excited about our event and hope you can attend! Please save-the-date and tell others about it! This event is open to our existing & future clients as well as newly-engaged couples still looking for great vendors. We hope to see you there!

ATSTUDIO Junkyard Chic Fine Art Photography June 9, 2009

Something really can be said for fine photography, it makes ‘everyday’ into art…
I love Thomas Slack’s photography because it is just that, ART. Below are all of the best shots from the Junkyard photoshoot I made bouquets for.

In Love at the Intercontinental June 7, 2009

Wedding_20090606_0052

I just completed the wedding of Kristine and Jon Hernandez at St. Priscilla’s Church in Chicago, with reception at the Intercontinental Hotel Chicago-O’hare. It was fabulous! Their colors were burgundy, dark raspberry, & lime green. The flowers we used included “Black Magic” deep red roses, “Green Tea” green roses, dark pink cymbidium orchids, burgundy and white callas, green and white dendrobium orchids, green hydrangea, burgundy peonies, green hypericum berries, and magenta “Calypso” mokara orchids. The colors looked great together!
Since this was a Filipino wedding, I had about 40 boutonnieres and corsages to make…part of Filipino tradition is to have “sponsors” so that adds to the personal flowers count and then some! After I dropped off the bouquets to the hotel, I headed to the church to hang hydrangea on the pews and pin/magnet all of the dozens of corsages and boutonnieres to the extended bridal party. One of my favorite things was talking to 2 of the 5 little flower girls about flowers…they were so inquisitive and one of them decided that callas were her favorite flower! 4 of the flowergirls carried green button pomp pomanders, and 1 of them was under 2 years old and got a tiny, tiny bouquet of button pomps…it was Barbie-sized and just perfect!  Another fun tidbit would be that most of the bouts/corsages had magnets on them, meaning instead of being “pin-on” they were “magnet on”. This costs about $3 more per bout/corsage but makes for a really easy and secure method for attaching them to attire. It worked really well with the fancy dresses of the female sponsors and the thin fabric of the male groomsmen’s barongs. I highly recommend the magnet-on method if you can afford it!
As for the bouquets-Kristine’s was a gorgeous mix of burgundy peonies, callas, roses and deep pink cymbidium orchids with a bling buckle and lime green satin-wrapped handle. The girls wore burgundy so they carried all-green bouquets made with green hydrangea, roses, dendrobium orchids and hypericum berries. They were so pretty! I also loved the tossing bouquet I made, which combined green and burgundy flowers into one really awesome little nosegay
The reception venue was modern & fresh. There was custom art in the hallways, sculptural ceiling accents and the banquet chairs were anything but banquety! For the cocktail hour, we did 8 square vases with either orchid heads, bear grass and a floating candle OR 5 green roses with bear grass. I also added petals all over the place and displayed my “signature” gift card holder which had a floral rim of burgundy and deep red carnations with some lime green button pomps and lime ribbon accent. It looked so sleek! Loved it.
For the centerpieces, we did 2 styles:
(10) trio of cylinder vases at 12″, 16″ and 20″ heights filled with submerged callas, mokara and dendrobium orchids with sheer organza ribbon around the top and floating candles inside.
(16) trio of wine-glass style candle holders with green and clear glass stones, 2 short pillar candles and 1 filled with orchids with a floating candle on top.
They both added so much to the ambiance and looked just fabulous! The only other details to speak of would be the sweetheart table, which was decorated with the tossing bouquet in a vase and petals and votive candles. Oh! And who can forget the cake topper?! I think they found a vendor on ETSY that makes custom novelty toppers–this one was definitely an “Ode to the Groom” as he is a mechanic (see below)…it was one of the most unique toppers I have ever seen!

Need a Chuppah? Rent my Chuppah! June 3, 2009

So, I bought this Chuppah for a wedding 2 years ago and only have used it once. I am sure there are some Jewish brides out there in need of one for rent, so I figured I’d blog about it and maybe get some traffic.

For those of you who don’t know what a Chuppah is, it is:

chuppah (Hebrewחוּפָּה‎) (also spelled hupahchupah, or chuppa – plural: chuppot or chuppahs, Hebrew: חוּפּוֹת) is a canopy traditionally used in Jewish weddings. It consists of a cloth or sheet, sometimes a tallit, stretched or supported over four poles, or sometimes carried by attendants to the ceremony. Achuppah symbolizes the home the couple will build together. Chuppah literally means a canopy or a covering.

(Thanks Wikipedia!)
